For me to hook my desktop tower up to my laptop. I ask because I'm currently troubleshooting a problem with my desktop computer where all of a sudden I'm receiving no video I've checked alot of what I know to but could I hook my desktop tower to laptop. Then use some kind of hardware diagnostic tool or so software to monitor what my towers doing.

Laptops typically can't be used as displays for desktops. They don't have video input ports, only output.

If the two systems are on the same network, you may be able to use Remote Desktop to connect the laptop to the desktop over the network.

What kind of problems are you experiencing?
