I don't know about all carriers, but updating to Android 5.1 has made my Note 4 a very mediocre phone for what I need. T-Mobile Carrier

1. It wiped out all of my text messages without a warning.
2. I cannot send more than 1 picture at a time because the phone has stopped compressing the pictures during texting. It used to send multiple pix to up to 10 recipients with just a phone signal. Now...

Hey, the Note 5 being launched doesn't suddenly make the Note 4 a bad phone That being said, you know you'll not be getting the latest and greatest of the hardware out there. As long as you're fine with that, go for it! The Note 4 is still a very capable device.

Just my 2 cents.

3. The home screen panel switched to a blank screen and you can no longer hold the 1 you had set up and select it as a home screen. Had to drag my icons to the new home screen created after the update.

T-Mobile tech support sent me to Samsung.
Samsung tech support said to go to BestBuy and try to get 1 of their Samsung specialists to "Look At It"
Both T-Mobile & Samsung said they get daily calls after the update and they cannot fix it. They apologized and try to downplay the inconvenience. Not being able to send a couple pictures in a text is a game-changer for me. I am a home inspector and have to do this at times. Taking minutes instead of seconds is not a good thing. With 2 or 3 bars, I usually can't send at all.

I have seen headlines for AT&T Note 4 users but don't know the particulars.

I did like the phone before the 5.1 update, but now it is just a phone that became very dumb and overall marginal.
