I had been cleaning my MSI GE72 laptop. For this reason it was flipped with bottomside up. On the back it's very vulnerable. My GF comes in, she is rather clumsy and next moment the laptop is getting drowned in water. It was turned on and plugged in.

After drying it and cleaning it up it turns on, but nothing happens but lights being on. Nothing on the screen at all. Connecting it to a second monitor with HDMI shows no picture as well.

After opening it up several areas on the motherboard looks almost identical to this: http://www.laptopspecialist.ca/images/Water-damage-mb-072513.jpg

I am waiting for my insurance company now to give me an adress next week for a shop to look at it.

I am just curious now... Is this fixable you think? Where I'm from hardware usually gets tossed our because its hardly worth the salary and time to fix harware but I know nothing of liquid damage on computers.

I am asking because I might as well be looking for good deals on computers now, if they don't find it worth repairing :)

Chances are it's dead.
The data should be recoverable.
Water in a computer isn't bad, but when the computer has that electric thing running through it, while it is on... bad things can happen and they normally do.

Okay, data isn't relevant. Had it completely cleaned and backed up before the incident. Just my luck having it bricked days after giving it a good cleanup and new thermal paste...
