There is nothing wrong with the PSP-GO other than it lacks internal Memmory. 16 Gigs and no UMD isn't going to cut it. However 64 Gigs would be perfect for a UMD less unit. If you can't build a 64 Gig PSP-Go and be profitable than you might as well go back to makeing game karts and ditch the Little disks.

You must really REALLY like bulky, expensive devices. Go buy an iPad.

Now, here are some reasons why your idea is stupid:

1) 1024x768 has a 4:3 aspect ratio. Most games are now WIDESCREEN. (Meaning 16:9)
2) In order for a 1024x768 screen NOT to be bulky, it would have to have a stupidly high pixel density, and even then, the screen would likely be quite narrow, probably along the lines of the current PSPgo.
3) FWVGA resolution is where it's at. The Droid has it. 854x480 ftw! (There is no need for stupidly high resolutions like 1024x576 or 1280x720 yet, at least not on a mobile device.)

PS3-like graphics are still out of reach for mobile devices, though at lower resolutions like 854x480, I would NOT be surprised at all to see good looking games that look like Halo 2 and Far Cry: Instincts on the PSP2.

Hopefully this new hand-held gaming unit will be visible in day light. I have a PSP, sony has really dropped the ball by lately releasing only limited titles; though I still will be picking up a copy of peace walker.

Of course there's the PSP-Go, what an awful concept that should have never been brought past that conceptual stage -- NO WAY TO TRANSFER (BY PROVING OWNERSHIP) OF A UMD GAME OVER? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? When someone goes to the store to buy a PSP-Go and next to it they see PSP games what would there initial reaction be: Game System + Games.

It had better as fast as a PS2. The 3DS is rumored to be as fast as a Gamecube and the iPhone 3GS/iPad are both faster than the Wii. If Sony wants to stay at, err, get back to forefront of handheld graphics, they will need to show something spectacularly powerful at E3.

I'll buy a PSP2 if it has the following:

1. Xbox 1 equivalent graphics/processing power.

2. Two Analog sticks (duh)

3. It plays full-size Blu-Ray discs. (Yes, Blu-Ray. I don't care if they make it the size of a iPad - I want to be able to carry around a Blu-Ray player. This will solve media capacity issues and server as a movie player.

4. A Touch screen. It's time. Give us a touch screen and out-of-the-box internet browsing support. On-screen keyboard for the win.

I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm greedy.

[citation][nom]thejester420[/nom]I really hope they keep the trend of "no UMD" in future psp's, I know it sucks for backwards compatibilty but the UMD is a failed technology, no different then Minidiscs, the only difference being that the psp have kept UMD in existence. It's loud, low density, and moving parts really puts a drain on battery life. DEATH TO UMD!! and may the next PSP be what the first on should have been!![/citation]
I actually like the UMD. Not for watching movies but it's great for portable gaming. You get the low production costs of laser disks and the robustness of cartridge. You can buy used UMDs but you can't buy used DLC. I think that's a huge turn off for DLC since there are a lot of people who buy then sell the game when they're done playing it. I think the PSPgo is a good example of people not wanting to give up physical copies of games.

What I want to see is a higher density UMD, modern wifi (including security protocols), duel thumb sticks, bluetooth, all in a PSPgo type package (so I can use my pockets to carry it around). Maybe a higher resolution screen, but no bigger than the current physical size.
