Is this an ethernet port

I'm planning on getting a computer for my son and I don't know if this is an ethernet port to plug it in

And try a Ethernet cable's connector in the port. See if it fits. Telephone modem ports look the same but are smaller.

That looks like an RJ-11. A phone port. Not ethernet.

It's hard to tell whether that's RJ-45 (Ethernet) or RJ-11/25 (Phone). Please try to plug an Ethernet cable into it and see if it fits. If it fits, then it's an Ethernet port. Only Ethernet cables fit into Ethernet ports properly.

Agree that it's the phone jack. Looks too small to be a RJ-45. But easy to tell if you have either a phone cable or Ethernet cable handy to test.
