Issue with HDD (I think)

I have ASUS p2520LJ I5 5200U GT920M which I recently purchased. I installed a 750GB WD HDD and I inserted the windows 8.1 recovery media that ASUS supplied with the laptop. The installation was going well however I restarted the laptop and it immediately took me to the BIOS where there was no boot options. I tried resetting it back to default settings and I placed the original drive back into the laptop however I can no longer boot it a I get Windows Boot manager error 0xc0000428. I am unable to boot a disk or USB as when I select the option the screen flashes black and returns me to my BIOS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have already tried reseating the RAM and held the power button for 1 minute to clear the CMOS

I usually do not try to recover from the "OEM" partition, I would tend to think that you got here some kind of "locked" system. Did you look in your BIOS settings if you have something like "Secure Boot" enabled? This may prevent you from booting once you make modification to the system (I do not know the exact symptoms though).

EDIT: I've found your BIOS manual here too : http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Commercial_NB/P552LA/0409_E10114.pdf

You may want to try disabling "Secure Boot Control".
If it does not work, maybe changing Boot Option #1 to "Disabled".
