Just bought HDTV set...some questions.

Bought a Mitsubishi 65615 set and am using an SA8000HD cable box.

1. Noticed alot of audio drops watching TV last night. Does this
sound like a cable company problem, house wiring or cable box problem?

2. Standard tv looks just awful. I just read a similar post and will
try splitting the cable and running it directly to the tv to see if it
helps.

3. Couldn't get the fire wire to work. Gave up.

4. When watching standard tv in the 4:3 format...if I use the grey
bars on the side as opposed to the black, will I still get a burn in
problem?

1. cable - signal strength issues - you may need an amp - call them to get
it straight
2. yep - split the feed to fix - be aware this will make #1 worse
3. probably not enabled in Comcast SA software
4. gray bars are decent compromise - consider the stretch/zoom sometimes too

Thanks fro the reply. Actually number 4 was kinda tied into number 2.
I want to avoid the stretch/zoom since the picture is so lousy as it
is. Maybe after I split the cable I'll be able to live with it.

What kind of set is it?. Plasma burns in, LCD, DLP and LCOS projection
sets don't.

Call the cable company's tech support and have them update the software in
the box. The same thing happened to me until the box software was updated.

Welcome to the world of RPTV HDTV. You'll have to learn to live with it.

Yes, you will get a burn in. Learn to use the format options on the Mits. I
find the Stretch Plus great for most broadcasts. The Standard and Stretch
formats are best for some others. Experiment.

In time, as HD broadcasts proliferate, TV will be good.
