Using an HP laptop Windows 10. A while back keys in top row and the numbers above it are all malfunctioning. If I type q, it types q1. If I type 1 it types q1. the entire line across does same thing. I have done many searches. Tried removing battery and resetting. Going into test using f2. Changed language settings, keyboard settings and restoring to earlier restore point. Only back to 02/02/19 which was after this started happening. Tried air can to clean as well. Any ideas? I also uninstalled driver. External keyboard does not do this.

Solution
Try the following...

  1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
  2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver).
  3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own.

The keyboard, if it was a driver problem, should work fine now.

If it continues to have problems, and you stated that the external one works fine, then you may well need to replace the attached keyboard.
