I just got a brand new battery for my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) and when I but the battery in and plugged it my laptop, the battery does not charge. The battery life is currently at 74%, and I can use the laptop both without the battery in it through the external power cord and by unplugging the laptop and just using the battery. I'm confused as to where the problem is, because both the laptop and the battery seem to be working fine independently of each other. Also, the are no problems with the outlet I am using or with the charging cable.

well it is done in order not to destroy your battery and extend its life because battery life has to do with full charge cycles so dont worry,if you want it fully charged shut down your laptop and plug the ac adapter
