My laptop has 60hz, but somehow nvidia manage to make it up to 170hz @1366x768 and 120hz @1024x768
should i stay at 170hz or go back to 60hz, will this damage my monitor?

There is something odd happening with your system, but you also did not list any details about the setup, looks like you have two monitors on it using clone mode, is that connect? What is connected to the laptop? Chance are that your laptop screen is not even 120 hz capable. It should be set at the 1366x768 and 60hz setting which is most likely the correct one for your screen.

that is the problem, my laptop is single monitor, but nvidia or system detect a new monitor which was black screen and inactive, but i can connect by duplicate the monitor, there is no second screen or analog display

You need to list your exact laptop model.

Did you try removing all video drivers and installing them again from the laptop vendor site?
