7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) i do alot of cad work at college and also i am a editor using adobe after effects, cinema 4d and sony vegas pro

so 1k pounds would be about 1600 usd, I'm very surprised you can't get a USED macbook for that much. oh well.

MSI 14" X460DX - I think this is a great laptop, it's light, it's got a great combination of CPU+GPU, plenty of ram and HDD space. Only thing isn't listed is battery life, but it's got a standard battery and the 540 GT by default comes with optimus which lets you use the intel hd 3000 built in video when browsing internet, so I believe if you are reasonable about your usage it should be able to last 4 hrs.
