laptop 1 specs
i5 4210u 1.7 ghz turbo 2.7 ghz
6gb ddr3 RAM
1TB HDD +8 GB SSD
15.6 FHD screen
gtx 840 4 GB ddr3
laptop 2 specs
i7 5500u 2.4 ghz turbo 3 ghz

14 HD screen
amd r5 230m 2 GB ddr3

Solution
If the video card is slower in the i7, then the i5 is better.

Just keep in mind the 840 is a lower end card for gaming use, new more demanding games will need to be run on Low and even then may be a bit slow.

If you can, spend a bit more and get an 860m or 960m based system, it will be a lot better for games and since you are getting a laptop, the performance you get now is what you are stuck with till you change laptops. No upgrade path for most laptops unless they are high end ones with removable video chip.
