I want to buy the cheapest laptop possible for the sole purpose of playing Hearts of Iron 3 on my lunch hour at work:
1_What is your budget?
$500 max, but cheaper would be better.
2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
11-13"
3_What screen resolution do you want? At least 1024 by 756.
4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Portable.
5_How much battery life do you need?
At least 3 hours, but more would be nice.
6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Hearts of Iron 3: Semper Fi. Low setting will be fine.
7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing,watching movies, Etc.)

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
25 GB

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?

HOI3 is a strategic game with a lot of moving parts. It has a reputation as a processor hog, but should not require the same kind of graphic horsepower of most modern games.
I was advised by someone on the HOI3 forum that I didn't need to knock myself out trying to meet the recommended specs:
"I find system requirements a bit high, as it can run on pretty any mid-range graphics with Pixel Shader 2.0 (friend got GeForce 7600 and it runs fine)
With bottom line for graphics being Radeon 4570 (tested, runs ok on Dell Studio 1555 with Vista x64) or Geforce 230M, i think more important will be getting decent CPU (at least 2Ghz) and at least 2Gigs of RAM
Another thing is: I found HoI3 runs better on Intel CPU's (2,26 Mobile C2D compared to Athlon X2 2,2Ghz)"
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive off the shelf laptop or net book that would meet these specs? I'm too laptop illiterate to figure it out.
