Laptop for School with long battery life

I'm looking for a laptop/notebook/tablet for school, that has a long (and I mean LONG) battery life. I don't care much about the other specs, only that it has at least 4GB of ram, and a decent enough processor. I would like the price to be around $300-$400, although I realize that may not be possible so the price is a bit flexible.

I would be using the laptop/notebook/tablet mostly to do things such as email people, use Microsoft Word, and possibly do some light coding as well (no more than about 50 lines at one time).

Anyone have any suggestions?

The dell insperon line is quite good for your needs. The other choice is the acer e series.
