Hello, Marco:
You made no mention of gaming at any level, and you seem to care more about how the laptop looks, so I'd say a dual-core ultrabook will suit you perfectly.
Here are 3 popular devices:
1. ASUS Zenbook 3

2. HP Spectre x360 13

3. Lenovo Yoga 900

The ASUS is a 12.5" clam-shell ultrabook that weighs 0.9kg and offers 12 hours of battery life (probably 8-9 hours IRL). The display is not IPS but ASUS claims 178-degree viewing. It's currently available from Amazon UK in Rose Gold with very respectable specs for £1,400. Distinguishing features: 16GBs of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
The HP is a 13.3" 2-in-1 laptop that weighs 1.32kg and offers "up to 16 hours" of battery life - this, obviously, only concerns the most basic version. The version listed above is probably closer to 10-11 hours. 2K IPS panel in a Dark Ash Silver chassis, available from HP's web store for £1,400. Distinguishing feature: Active stylus included.
The Lenovo is a 14" 2-in-1 laptop that weighs 1.4kg and offers 9 hours of battery life, and this is probably closer to 6 hours. Lenovo UK has a Gold version priced at £1,400 with decent specs. Distinguishing feature: 4K panel.
You could say that the Lenovo has the nicest-looking screen, the HP has the best battery life, and the ASUS is the nicest-looking machine. But it's up to you to make your pick.
Lenovo have never been pioneers with battery life, and 9 hours is almost a joke. But they do offer reliable machines with very good build quality. ASUS routinely offer stunningly beautiful devices, but the slim ultrabooks tend to suffer from battery issues (hardware and software-related) because of the type of clip-on battery used, at least until very recently. HP are currently riding a wave of online popularity because of the Spectre line, and the x360 13 is probably the best choice among the Spectres.
Best of luck,
GreyCatz.
