laptop forgets it has wifi capability

When i start up my laptop the wifi comes on as normal, but after about 5-10 minutes the wifi switches off and only flight mode is available in the bottom right corner. I know the wifi is still on because other computers will recognise it.

The laptop is a toshiba satellite l50-b-1nm. I don't know the router model but I'm using my phone with the wifi so I know it's working if that helps.

I did, about a month or so ago

Try to go into device manager, then network adapters, then click on your wireless network adapter, write down your adapter model at the top of the window that pops up as well as click on driver and write down the driver version number and let me know.

Also, look on the bottom of the laptop for a more specific model number should start with PSK after the rest of the number

I think the adapter model is intel(r) dual band wireless-ac 3160 and diver version is 17.16.0.4

I suggest checking your BIOS version, since you have the most recent wireless driver:
http://www.toshiba.ie/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=IE You may need to use another computer and a flash drive if you can't connect with your laptop. You can try to attempt to roll back the wireless driver first to see if that helps.
