Laptop FPS Issue

Asus ROG
Nvidia GTX 970M
Intel Core i7
12 gigs of ram

My laptop can run games like PUBG on medium settings at 80 fps without issue, then all of a sudden the FPS will drop to anout 25. This happens throughout all of my games. The only way to "fix" it is by unplugginf an repluggin my laptop in, and it only "fixes" it for anout 3-5 minutes before it happens again.
