Hi,

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 3180sd from 2012. My laptop has a switchable graphics function, whenever it switches to ATI the screen goes all strange. It has to do something with the gpu because same thing happens when connecting to an external monitor. This only happens with the ATI card, using the Intel graphics no problems occur. Pictures can be seen below.

Hope any of you can help me.

Hi,

Yes that looks definitely a problem with the GPU. Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the AMD graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to AMD.
- Once completely uninstalled, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- Reboot the laptop once the driver has been installed.
- Do test it again and see if the same problem will persist or not.

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that I already tried reinstalling the driver. Also, I always get an error when I use the driver of the Amd site.
