Laptop has no sound

my acer laptop 3 year old laptop has np sound what so ever i had a virus that had popups took it in they fixed it i told them it had no sound the guy said he thinks its in the hard drive why you dont have no sound i get the fan making a vibrating sound some times past 6 months but dvd or any part of lap top no sound i know its not the sound drivers either

Hard drive would have nothing to do with the sound. if the correct sound drivers are installed it maybe just simple hardware failure. I would just double check that you have the correct driver (s) installed for sound. sometimes it can take the driver but still not work properly.
