sorry for my bad english

my laptop was working fine, then suddenly started to fail when booting

now my laptop shuts down after 5-10 secs with every other linux distro and windows xp,7,8 and 10

I know that my laptop is very old (2007) , but why only boots with Damn small linux and Hirens Boot CD ? maybe a virus ?

only boots from live USB

Solution
It's certainly a strange problem. Any diagnostics available in your BIOS? If you have two RAM sticks, have you tried removing one and then each in the other's slot to see if that tells you anything?
Sounds like a hard disk problem. If the only system that can work is the smallest one you can find,, there's either no space on the disk or there's a problem with the free space reporting.

That could also explain the failure to boot from the hard disk.

hi, i took out the HDD and my laptop keeps shutting down after few secs, only boots into bios or with a live usb (damn small linux and hirens) , i also replaced the HDD with one from another laptop and nothing changes

i replaced thermal paste three months ago so i don't think is an overheating problem

is this a sign of a failing motherboard?
