Laptop indicates it's charging even when it is not..

I have an Asus laptop..It is always in charging mode even when it is not plugged in.Can anyone help!!

If I run the notebook without battery,using AC it shows no battery detected..
When I switch my profiles with battery inserted..it show no difference..still showing charging only..
Even when the notebook is completely shut down the charging LED is glowing..

It started to appear 2-3 weeks before.
From that day it is always happening..
I don't think it is a software problem because even if the notebook is switched off charging LED is glowing.
If I disconnect the battery the LED switches off and when I reconnect it starts glowing.
I have been using it for almost 1 and a half years,never had this problem before

There are no service centres nearby.
