I have had an Alienware M14x R2 laptop for 3 years now.
My problem is that my laptop is plugged in, but it decides to run on battery power. Usually it would say that it's "plugged in, not charging" but recently it just wouldn't even say that its plugged in. My laptop lights up a different color when it's plugged in, so I know that my adapter is connected, but my computer decides to say that its running on battery. My adapter seems to work just fine on another laptop and my battery is already getting a replacement.
When I restart my computer it seems to be working just fine. The battery is "plugged in, not charging" but after a random amount of time it changes to not being plugged in even thought the adapter is still connected. To fix this I usually restart my computer again, but that only works temporarily before it starts to drain the battery all over again. Taking out the power adapter and plugging it back in does not fix the issue.
How do I fix this? What do I do? Is it my battery or my adapter?
