Laptop making dial up sound/blip?

My laptop randomly makes a rapid blip sound that is very similar to what a dial up modem sounds like, but without the static. When I hear it, the sound is coming from the speakers, not the laptop itself - as in, not a mechanical sound from the hardware and nothing close to resembling a software/booting beep. Very difficult to describe the sound in words, but here goes: Doot doota doot doota doot; generally in a succession of about 8-10 blips, then it stops as abruptly as it starts. The laptop is currently on a wireless connection so I've wondered if it is signal interference, but aside from that, I've no other ideas about what it could be.

did you try to set your router on channel 9 to see if beep still on .

happens the same here as well. its a HP. i have no idea of what it could be.
