My little brother dropped some water (less than a teaspoon) on the touchpad, so he swiped it, and now it's not behaving properly. It's movement isn't fluid, it often gets stuck while and tapping doesn't even work.

The right and left mouse buttons still work.
I've even tried using different versions of Synaptic drivers, to confirm that it isn't a software issue.

I read online that it would just get fixed by itself after a few days, but it's been more than 3 days, and it's still not fixed.

My brother had a really important exam and he needed the laptop to practice.

How much would you guess that it would cost? I have a HP ENVY Ultrabook 4-1002tx, if that helps your estimates.

Is there any possibility that it could get fixed by itself?

It can be cheaper if you know where to look. If you were to just get it from HP it'll probably cost $50 or more.

There's always a chance it would sort itself out, but the longer it goes acting funny like that the less likely it'll ever correct itself.

I just wanted to provide an update, to help anyone with a similar issue.

My mousepad is working perfectly fine now. Since it stopped working, I've been using a mouse, and yesterday when I checked it, it worked fine, it's working fine too.
It took about a week for it to start working again.
