I have a Dell, and although it said ''New'', I think it was "Refurbished'', because; of the files that I found on there were like 4 years before I bought it. So, I want to stay away from DELL! And being that this Dell Computer only lasted me 4 years and i paid $350.00 for it, i do not want to spend that kind of money on a Laptop again. So, I am asking for a Inexpensive Computer, that has a Program on it already for Typing Documents. I do Not want to spend $250.00 to $300.00 and then find out I got to spend another $100.00 for the ''WORD'' Program.
Any Suggestions? I just got 4 days to find one, cause; i am going Nuts without one.
Thank you

Most computers come with "note maker" or "note pad"
Not really document worthy as such though

I use "polaris office", the basic version is a free download 😉

just because there are files that are created 4 years ago didn't mean it used.
What is the dell make and model?
and there are free office, like http://www.libreoffice.org/

1. What were those files you found, private documents with people's names on them?
2. Where did you buy this Dell laptop?
3. As suggested by other posters, there are lots of free office suites available for download. I'm using OpenOffice myself. Heck, even Microsoft has a free writing program, included in Live Essentials (still available, but probably not for long).
4. What are you willing to spend on a new laptop?
5. What are your needs (internet browsing, professional work, gaming etc.)?

I have to say whatever the circumstances, finding any computer files dating back 4 years on a supposedly new PC does seem sketchy.
