Laptop not turning on after RAM upgrade

hello,

just upgraded my RAM to 8GB using the following video as a help guide

everything went according to plan but now the laptop won't turn on, no lights, no sound nothing, the battery light turns on when i plug it into the mains but when i hit the power button i get nothing

before i accept defeat and take it to be repaired thought i'll post on here to see if anyone had any ideas?

Have you tried putting the old RAM back in? It's possible the new RAM isn't compatible.

yeah I've done that, still no change, the only thing i was unsure about was pressing the battery button on the motherboard while unplugging the battery, do i have to press this again? it has 4 numbers going round it, not familiar with this
