Since my old laptop had an unfortunate run in with my obliviousness and the road from a top a traveling car, I need to get a new one. I used the sticky questions to make things a bit easier.
1. What is your budget? $200-$400
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? It doesn't really matter not too big(say 15") but not to small(<10")
3. What screen resolution do you want? 1240x(640 or 720) is fine.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? This will be used to continue work on the go as I already have a sturdy desktop.
5. How much battery life do you need? at the very least 5 hours on the normal settings (i.e screen bright enough to actually see etc)
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? I can play games on my desktop if I wanted to but this option would be nice. Games like maple story and ragnarok are the only pc games I play really thus far. I've not looked at the latest PC games since like 08.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Virtualization. I do a lot of programming(i.e websites, java apps, etc) and windows doesn't cut imho as far as doing these tasks. That is, I find it easier to do it on the linux side. So I'll have a windows host and a linux VM with at least 1gb. Other than this web surfing and word processing(most likely google docs)
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? Anything over 200gb is fine

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? I'd like it to last me at least 2 years.
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? It really doesn't matter
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Nothing from apple. Asus and HP are the only brands that I've used and like both of them(Asus > HP).
13. What country do you live in? U.S
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed. Nothing comes to mind. Ask and I'd be more than happy to answer.
