Solved! Laptop Power Issue

So basically im a little skeptical posting on this site because every time I do no one answers me but here goes nothing i just bought a HP pavillion laptop and I was playing GTAV on it while it was plugged in. Basically i got a notification on it saying my battery was almost dead which didnt make any sense to me upon investigating i realized that in the bottom right hand side of my screen it said that it was plugged in and not charging but heres where things get wierd I tried turning it off and on again waited for it to cool down and everything and it said the same thing but when i unplugged my xbox 360 controller my screen went black and took me to the lock screen then all of the sudden it was able to charge. It ried googling it and the only thing it told me was that i needed to update my drivers but i checked all of them and they are all up to date. Any help is appreciated thank you

Usually plugged in not charging means a bad battery. If you just bought the laptop contact HP for warranty support.
