I have a acer laptop that has 8gb of ram but it shares that ram with the graphics card. I was wondering if I could install more ram to have that be allocated to my graphics card.

Solution
first, you laptop probably only has 2 slots, and it is very likely running 2x4G memory, so if you upgrade you'd have to sell or toss one of the 4G modules. you could try just going into the BIOS and manually allocating a specific amount to the graphics portion. it might be locked at a certain amount, though, so even if you add ram, it might not allocate more.
