Laptop Randomly Pauses During Games

When I'm playing games on my laptop, It'll randomly freeze or pause for 1-3 seconds and then keep playing as if nothing happened. This will happen every minute to few minutes.

Gigabyte p34g v2

Windows 8.1 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce GTX 860m
16.0 GB RAM
Intel Core i7-4710HQ

I recently tried uninstalling all the nvidia graphics drivers and then reinstalling the most recent stable ones. The problem still persists.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, the GPU usually doesn't go past 70C unless I'm playing a high intensity game like AC Black Flag. The CPU however does get pretty hot at around 70-80C, but I've done research on the laptop and part and this is to be expected. I even put the laptop's fans to the max to cool the CPU down even more when I play, and the pauses still persist.

Are you running other programs in the background while in the game? Try running a hard drive check also, not just the checkdisk from Windows, but a full scan from either the laptop vendor or from the HD maker's support site.
