Hello!

I have been thinking of buying a laptop for main purpose of gaming/movies. Might do some music editing in the future but not most important.
My budget is around $800-900.
I dont play very demanding games (ex. FFXIV, GTAV) and love it to run smoothly in 1080p.
If it could run newer games that would only be bonus!

There are so many laptops in that price range and it seems that i can get at best 8gb ram, 1050 / 1050ti within that budget. However i have nooo idea what the difference is.

Would very much appreciate your guys help and recommendation!

Thanks!

So i talked to the costums srvice in sweden. Interesting enough, they said electronics from within and outside EU, there is no extra toll fees. But there is a VAT of 25% outside EU.
They said UK still is in EU so VAT is no problem.
Im thinking of getting the https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-FX503VM-DM042T-15-6-Inch-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B0765CBZZJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1531827987&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=FX503VM&dpPl=1&dpID=51GaoiFGinL&ref=plSrch in that case. I dont rhink 120hz vs 60hz screen will bother me, ive never had 120hz before :p
And that 1tb hdd is so handy. It is a little above budget of arouns 9000 sek instead. But it seems worth it. What do you think?

Thanks for the fast reply!
That looks really good. Its a lot more expensive here in sweden/norway sadly :(
Checked now and a new one is 11000 sek, around 1200usd. Is there a big performance difference between 1050ti and 1060?

Oh right. I didnt know newegg ships to sweden now o.o
Im afraid if there will be extra costs to have it shipped from the us? Otherwise that is an awesome price for such laptop!
Normal sites are usually:
Webhallen.com
Komplett.com
Then there is like Elgiganten.

Did a quick check and looks like there is an additional $2-300 Kr for shipping. I think its shipping out of the US to you so that puts it at 8000-8200Kr.

As for the sites, I tried my best. Unfortunately my Swedish is rusty. As in I don't speak any. I couldn't really find anything.

Performance, the 1060 will play GTA V and probably FF IV the best at 1080p but if its out of your price I can understand that.

Oh wow, if i can get such laptop for around 8000 sek, that would be amazing.
Im afraid there will be high VAT fees or like uhm what is it called, toll fees / custums duty?
Otherwise this might be the laptop!

Darn i found the answers on vat toll etc. Seems it can be very expensive buying it outside of EU. I might need to go down to 1050 / 1050ti :(
Do you have any recommendations there on models/brands?

I saw these 2 also, how do they differ from the one you recommended?

The first one is the same it looks like spec wise. The second one is similar in all ways but it has a 256GB SSD but no 1TB HDD and it has a 120Hz refresh rate screen. Both will perform similar although the one with the 120Hz screen will obviously be able to show more FPS than the other.

If you can survive without the 1TB HDD (say get an external for data storage) then the second link you posted would be slightly better overall.

Would those still be cheaper due to Britain leaving the EU? Or because its not quite done yet would it still drop the VAT?

Yes im quite sure theyre still in EU and that brexit will take longer to go through completely. It might be cheaper from amazon uk. In that case the 1st might be better with the extra 1tb. Will the 120hz be a noticable difference? Will it affect 1080p gaming?
Thanks ^^

Noticeable is very person specific. There are some people who swear by 120Hz and say anything less feels bad. Others, like myself, are fine so long as the game is not jerking around. I can do 30FPS or higher normally.

Just to give an idea of what I am talking about, the refresh rate of the screen will determine how many FPS the games will be able to show. If you have a 60Hz monitor then it can show up to 60 FPS in a game. The game can run at 300FPS but the screen will only show 60FPS. If it is a 120Hz refresh rate it will be able to show up to 120FPS if the game is running at 300FPS..

The biggest response I get for higher refresh rates is that the game looks and feels smoother at a higher refresh rate. But again it is very dependant on the person as some people swear by it and others can't see much of a difference between 60 and 120.

Ooh right i see. Then it ahould be alright. My screen at home is 60 only.
Im going to have to call tmrw to ask about extra charges for buying from uk / usa. Hopefully itll be low costs (dont think so tho haha). Otherwise i might have to settle for a cheaper one. Will post back tmrw ^^ Thanks again

I think for your budget that looks to be the best option. I personally work with 60Hz as well although plan to eventually get a GSYNC monitor but not for the refresh rate.

I would go for it if you feel happy with the specs.
