Laptop runs much better/faster when ON BATTERY

My laptop runs well but i noticed when i am doig some heavy work the procees is pegged btw 50% -70% utilization but when on battery it runs at 100% untilization .
i have checked the power option to see if some this is wrong but its okay pls help..... its making the system run slowwwwwwwww.

Solution
Actually the laptop is running slower on battery ... hence the CPU utilisation is HIGHER when on battery, as opposed to the charger.

So it is working properly.
