Laptop screen broke, but can connect to TV

Recently my Dell Inspiron Win. 8.1 Laptop's screen broke. I tested to see if it worked on tv and works fine.

Was wondering if it is needed to fix the screen since I mainly use the TV as the display.

If you are happy to use the TV as your main display then there is no reason to replace the on-board panel, apart from it looking terrible.
The laptop will quite happily continue to operate the way you have it now with no ill-effects.
