Laptop screen goes black: black screen of death

I was having black screen of death so i reinstalled the windows, which fixed the issue. Later when i tried to power on again with the new window (after installing any drivers etc) the screen was again like that for around some minutes and came back, just for info my battery is dead so it doesn't charge but i use a power cable to power it on or use it. is this causing this issue?

Laptop Model: Toshiba Satellite c660 2kh
Windows: 7 64bit

Sounds like either you may have a bad driver being installed (not all updates work correctly), or you have a hardware problem starting. Either the display or the cable that connects it are loose or damaged and working only some of the time, or the GPU is starting to go.

I would start with the drivers.
