Laptop suggestion for gaming & 3d rendering

I'm on the lookout for a laptop for 3d rendering and game developing in Maya, Unity etc for my girlfriend. It's also going to be the primary laptop for games such as Assassin's Creed 4 and other somewhat demanding games. It doesn't have to run smooth 120 FPS at ultra settings, but 40+ at medium settings would be awesome.

We've had our eyes on an ASUS X756UB-T4093T with the following specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7-6500U (3.1 GHz)
Ram: 8 GB DDR3L
Harddrive: 1 TB HDD & 16 GB SSD
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 940 M, 2 GB DDR3 dedicated ram
And some other stuff like usb and whatnot, not super important.

It was not fully but somewhat declined since a test showed the processor and graphic card didn't fulfill the recommended for Assassin's Creed. Tested here: http/www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

Here's what she's pretty picky on:

16 GB RAM
i5 or i7 processor
Has to have an optical drive - the university she studies at demands so many cd copies of their projects it's ridiculous.

A graphic card decent enough to pull a bunch of games at medium settings fairly well. She's looking to buy Fallout 4 eventually, and no games are fun with lag.

Our budget is around the equivalent of 1-1.1K USD

For demanding games for smooth rates, a 940 M is very marginal, you can run games on low smoothly, and that is games that are out now. Unless you will be getting a laptop every year, you want a laptop with the speed to run games in 3 years, not just today.

Get at least a 960 M, and a quad core system, if not a 970 M. The U CPU models are lower power ones, the HQ are the real quad core models.

For about 1,000 US you can get a 960M easily, and maybe a 970.

Avoid 4k screens, resolution is too high to be used on a small laptop screen unless you have the eyes of a hawk and the extra pixels will make gaming tougher on the video card.

GTX 940M is not enough to play game with better setting, you can look at GTX960M or higher base on your budget. Here is the website you can looking around. http/www.ibuypower.com/ MSI and Alienware are my recommendations.

Thanks man. And to you too, Kenneth. Lovely website, just a darn shame shipping to Denmark would be very expensive plus taxes, and there'd be no danish keyboard layout. But the hard values, like the minimum 960M and a quad core to go for is awesome to know. Now we just gotta find a danish dealer of something with that within a reasonable pricerange.
