Hello, I will be entering College in the fall and I plan to study Aerospace Engineering. I am looking for some help on choosing a laptop that would hopefully last me the next 4 years in college. Thank you in advance for your help.

1. What is your budget?

1500> …but the lower the better!

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

14” + I’m not particular

3. What screen resolution do you want?

1920x1080 would be ideal

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

I just need something somewhat portable that I can carry around to classes, do work on, and play games.

5. How much battery life do you need?

Hopefully 6+ hours, I’m not sure how realistic that is, but the more the better.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

I probably say I wouldn’t but to be realistic I probably would and I would prefer to have High settings.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
I will probably be using a variety of Engineering programs, I don’t know which ones yet and I will probably also use photo and video editing software.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

1 Tb preferably and I would hope to also have an SSD

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

Any site is fine with me

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

4+ years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

Most likely just a DVD

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I don’t have a preference

13. What country do you live in?

The U.S.

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I don’t really care about the OS, but I would prefer Win 7

The dell would not be my first choice, as it has an ULV processsor (I have to admit though for the battery life you are looking for), and it seems the other posts are advertisements sadly.

I myself am not familiar with SAGERnotebook, but have heard good things about them

17.3", 8.6 LBs, 76.96 watt hour 8 cell battery - http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=product_info&model_name=NP8278

15.6", 6.83 LBs, same size battery - http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=product_info&model_name=NP8268

15.6", 5.95 LBs, same size battery - http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=product_info&model_name=NP7358
dell inspirion 17-7737

http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-17-7737/pd?oc=dncwj2126s&model_id=inspiron-17-7737 price 1300 dollars

It was difficult to find a comprimise but this computer should provide you good performance with decent battery life.

By the way for engineering and design program it is better to have a good size screen so this is why i picked one that is
17inch. unfortunately it doesnt have an ssd but it has an sshd
