I'm looking for a 1280x1080 screen resolution. A 15.6" if not a 17.3" screen, 8GB RAM, 8-Cell Li-Ion battery and something powerful enough to game on. I want to be able to game on it, but for it to last long enough in classes also so battery is important. At the very least I want 4-5 hours just for taking notes, nothing resource heavy. My price range is ~$1000 but I may go up a bit more to $1200. I don't have an OS preference that I really want more than another. I have never tried windows 8, but I wouldn't mind it.

something that can play:
League of Legends - Max settings @ ~60fps would be great and fit the above.

Some laptops I'm looking into that I might get but don't meet one or two of my expectations

This one is great, for the price, but it has a 6-cell battery

This is one I really want as it has a good screen, and battery life, but it is a little pricey for me.

Good processor, 2TB of storage, Nvidia GT 635M 2G, 8GB RAM, and in my price range but the resolution is 1600x900 and I don's know if the battery is good or not.

It's a good laptop, but I don't know if it will last as long as I want it to.

Sounds good! Let me know which one you pick in case you find a cheaper one since I'm looking into buying a gaming laptop myself.

You will want at least a 650m to play games (anything lower forget about it). The y500 does not have optimus and may have sub par battery life. The GX60 is heavily cpu bottlenecked (do not recommend for cpu heavy mmo's). Recommend something like the y580 (with a 750m) that has optimus and a larger battery (its 6 cell but 72 watt-hours which is pretty decent) but is a little more expensive than the y500.

The samgsung chronos (though expensive) has a huge battery and will last a LONG time unplugged.
