Laptop to buy?

I need a laptop for school. I'll be taking the GCSE Media studies and I think I need a mid-high performance laptop. Also, I need a little bit of gaming on it. I narrowed down my choices to two laptops.
1) Apple MBP 15"
2) HP Pavilion dm4-3009TX

anything below $1200 USD

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

15" or lower

3. What screen resolution do you want?

High ones eg. 1440x900

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

Portable

5. How much battery life do you need?

6-8 hrs

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

I want to play Sims 3 and GTA 4 (Medium-low settings)
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Photo+ Video editing, Office Apps (MS office/iWork), Music Editing/Making, Running CS5.5

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

500-750GB

Fujitsu- Never had one

Also I never had a mac before. Only my sister did. I want to see if the sound quality is as good as the HP's one. Also how does the bass perform?

I recommend an Asus laptop, sold a bunch of them and no problem so far (been at least 4 years)

as for

At least 5 Years? As long as possible

if you get acer, gateway, dell, toshiba, hp, if your lucky you will use them for 2 years tops before having to put money in it.

a lot of laptops are made for use and dispose.

the only brand that lasts is Asus nowadays (depends what kind of punishment they get 😛)
