Laptop to sony bravia kdl32l4000

Hello,i wonder if anyone could help me here.
I usually watch movies via the net using my laptop-dell d600 latitude- connected to my lcd via the vga port.
My problem is, i lose an enormous amount of quality when i try to watch say soccer for example..my lcd is 1920 1080...assistance on wat to do to improve the quality wud be appreciated..
PS. my lap do not have an HDMI port...

What is the source of your soccer games, i.e. are they off of the net? If they are off of the net, it isn't a problem with your set up, instead it is just the low quality of the video from the net. It may look good on your laptop because the video is smaller, but when you enlarge it on your TV, you are going to notice all of the flaws associated with streaming video from the Internet.
