laptop to tv connection

connecting hdmi cable from laptop to sony tv. TV is hooked to cable on hdmi 1. Trying to move selector to hdmi 2, it moves straight to dvd player. It worked before, had cable power turned off, just turn on tv and selector moved to hdmi 2. Not now.

Make sure you have the correct monitor/tv chosen in display settings or your tv wont recognize it

once connected to cable tv, try to select hdmi 2, hdmi 1 has cable hookup. Selector goes straight to dvd player section, not stop at hdmi2 or 3.
