So , I have an Acer Aspire One netbook and a Hitachi Ultravision HD Tv. I also have a home theater system hooked up because the speakers in our tv don't work. Now, to add to that ,I have a PS3 and a cable box. My question is , since the speakers in the tv don't work , how/where can I connect my laptop and have audio while streaming. My tv has 2 HDMI ports on back and 1 on front. The home theater system has 3 HDMI ports (BD, Cable/Satellite and DVD) also one that says HDMI out to tv. I have tried all variations with the same end result..I just want to be able to stream video and hear it too!!!

model numbers of the tv and home theater?

unless your tv and receiver support ARC over hdmi then everything would need to be routed through the receiver on the home theater.

just connect the 3hdmi port inputs on your home theater to the 3 devices you have. the output hdmi goes to the tv.

with that you should be seeing video on screen at least.

if you get no sound then right click on the volume icon on your taskbar, playback devices and set your home theater as the default audio device (or it might show up as hdmi in the list)

also dont forget to get an output from the laptop via hdmi you will need to change your secondary monitor options or go into projector mode.

Your netboobs seems not to have HDMI only VGA+analog audio output. So if your TV has a VGA input that does the video. There will be an analog input associated with the VGA so I would try it and see if the audio switching works even if the TV audio does not. Other wise the simplest thing is to connect the analog audio input to the HTib directly if it has an analog audio input.
Another option would be to use a converter like this

so you can connect the netbook via HDMI.
