why is it when i connect my toshiba satellite laptop to my hdtv with video and audio cables i cannot get sound on my tv although i can get sound on my head phones

How do u connect? S-Video?

nikoor; i use a 15 prong cord from righ side of laptop to rear of tv and audio from headphone outlet in front of laptop to rear of tv red and white terminals i receive excellent picture quality but no sound, trying to get setup for this afternoons slaughter from paris between ireland and france
