Laptop turns on then shuts off few seconds later. get new laptop??

I have a gateway lap top that the screen broke and i had to repalce it. before i repalced it it would still boot up and run when i was plugging in the new screen i noticed a arch. Now when i start the lap top it tries to start for about 5 seconds then shuts off. Can you please help me?

Since it could be a number of things including the battery , I would take it to a repair shop and have them tell you if it's worth fixing or to just get a new one.
