Good morning,

Does anyone know any good places to buy a laptop without an OS on it? I plan to put on some distro of Linux not sure which yet, probably Mint. I just feel that if I get one with a Windows OS I am going to be paying extra for something I don't intend to use. So as above, please suggest any places you know off to buy a laptop with out a pre-installed OS.

Regards, Joe.

Solution
you should check which laptops are specifically good for linux just buying any old designed for windows laptop may work fine or it may give you problems

heres ubuntu certified list--that should work fine for mint as well

http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/server/

its also possible now to buy laptops with linux on instead of windows but thats still quite a small list of laptops

I suggest to buy a laptop with windows OS for you. Windows is very common to the users and there are no hassle when it comes to programs installation and the drivers and other utility programs.
