Hello, im looking for some serious feedback, im not very familiar with statistics and benchmarks, but im starting to understand the basics, so if somone could please give me a details description if this is a viable option or if there is nything better out there so let me get started

My situation: i play games, i love to play games but my issue is my pc is never to date enough to play the latest. im currenlty using an asus with HD 3000 graphics...and i hate it. im going to give this to my girlfriend for school, i am a full time student so i need something viable to take to the college. while i normally have a power outlet this is not an issue. id be okay with about 2 hours of power life but im not against more. this computer has a 2GB 660m graphics card and an i7(as u can see for yourself) im loking for something that will run guild wars 2 on max settings and hopefully games to come in the future, after awhile id expect it to drop to medium settings, but thats not a big deal. im looking for bang for my buck basically, bcuz i am a student on a budget. here is the link to the pc as well as the stats

1. no.

This is the Y580 model with the low quality 768p screen. Buying such a laptop with such a screen is a sin, unless you can replace it yourself and you probably won't because Lenovo does not supply parts currently.

Buy the FullHD version:
http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/lenovo-y580-gtx-660m-fullhd-deal/

2. It won't run GW2 on max settings. GW2 on max settings seems to be very demanding even for faster laptops, but it would be much much much much much much much faster than the HD 3000 one which is very slow for gaming.

GW2 will run on high settings and fullhd resolution

okay, i had my stuff all mixed up, the one u posted was the one i was actually looking at, with 1080. will that be able to run GW on max settings? if not what should i lok into? i mean there aint a ton left after the 660 2GB is there? and if there is, is there anyway i could stay in the relative price range of $1000?

why do you want max settings?
GW2 is fresh. Maybe with time, they'll fix its performance for highest settings.

Yes, there is a lot to go - GTX 680M / 7970M. But I don't see why, actually.

okay lets narrow this down a bit, is the gtx660m performance wise enough to handle current games and a decent ammount of games to come in the future(IE: next couple years) Max settings is not a huge deal for me. but i want it to be able to run on max settings as its new, and its obviously expected to decrease over time(which is okay)i mean in all honesty i would rather have the 680 but i cant find one without a decent pricetag(im guessing thats not me being jipped)

I have the Y560 and it was the biggest mistake I ever made.

For your girlfriend I recommend going for a Sony Vaio due to more than just the Graphics Card, it is just generally more reliable and it still has the beautiful looks as the Y570 does (which girls seem to like).

GTX 680M you can find for 1600-1700$ I think.
Didn't understand your question - you want the GTX 660M to run everything on max settings?
Many games will and some not, like GW2, BF3 and more.

Thanks junky, is there a radeon card out there with a better price tag somwhere around the performance of a 680 or 670? im not full blown nividia all the way, its just a preferance. never dealt with anything else in the past

Thanks again!

Any ex-lenovo customer will tell you that the warranty is a ticking time bomb and as soon as the warranty expires, things go down hill from there, just google random problems and include the word "Lenovo" in the name and you'll hear about overheating and all that, another thing is that your GFX Card will go out quite quickly, instead I bought my girlfriend an iPad so she could play on that and work on her older laptop (which is a Lenovo)
