Hello,

I am currently fixing a Lenovo G50-30 laptop. It worked fine until one day, when it stopped booting Windows and started displaying the "No bootable device" message.
When I turn the laptop on, the hard drive makes strange repeating noises as you can hear here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzzRZkJhW8jxZkJ3U3lnTC1RSWM/view?usp=sharing

In BIOS, under Hard Drive there is a message that says "No device detected".
I've tried pulling out the HDD and the battery and putting them back in again, but it didn't help.

So, based on these informations and on the sound that the HDD producing, is it maybe time for a new hard drive?

Hi there NaranJust,

I would agree with engineer5261. Unforutantely, the HDD is most probably dead.
You can either send it to a data recovery company, if the data stored on it is really important or RMA it if under warranty.

Also, it would really not hurt to try to attach it to a desktop computer with different SATA and power cables. This would rule out a possible connection related issue. (cables and SATA port)

Cheers,
