lenovo g50 display not working but works with external monitor

My friend bought a new lenovo g50 7 months back. I closed the laptop screen and left the laptop for a day and a half. When I open the laptop this morning there was no display.I tried to charge it for 40 minutes and tried again but to no luck.To test if the monitor is dead, I connected it to an external monitor and it works perfectly with it.What should I do to sort out the problem? Thanks.

Does the laptop switch on still?

Have you tried using the output to external monitor function? It should be the function button (Fn) and one of the F keys. Maybe Fn + F9 or F10.

Have you had a look in the display settings for the laptop to see if it detects a second screen?
