Hi, I purchased a Lenovo Z850 expecting it to have a GeForce graphics card as standard. This one however only has a Intel HD 4000. Would it be possible that is has a dedicated GC but isn't using it? If not, would it be possible to have one installed? I'm new to laptops....so be kind :)

I believe it comes in 2 versions one with Nvidia one with Intel. you got the intel version. return it and see if they have the Nvidia version.

I believe you meant the Lenovo Z580 since there is no such model as the Z850.

While Lenovo's website states a nVidia GT 640m is an optional upgrade ("up to nVidia GT 640m), when you select a laptop to configure you actually do not get an option to upgrade to a nVidia GT 640m. Lenovo may decided to eliminate all optional upgrades for the Z580 laptop. You can't even upgrade the RAM or hard drive.

Go back to the website where you bought it from can review the listed specs. If it states the nVidia GT 640m is included and is not an upgrade option, then you were shipped the wrong laptop.

Thanks for the info. Yes I meant the z580, that was a typo. Also, it is shop bought but as I had already used it and installed software to it I couldn't return it as it broke the shops 'returns policy'

It does however have a panel on the bottom which can be removed so you can access the RAM and hard drive....I was just hoping you might be able to upgrade the graphics card too. I am new to laptops as I've always had desktops before. Was just wishful thinking I guess. Thanks again...
