Solved! Lenovo laptop with broken screen AND keyboard

Hi,

My laptop fell and got the display not working. The display isn't physically broken but displays no image, even boot. The keyboard is also broken. It boots normally and it seems to still work fine. I'm using an external TV with HDMI connections and an external USB standard keyboard.

On boot, I can see Windows up to safe mode only. In normal mode it still boots but the TV screen remains black and the only thing it shows is the mouse arrow, which behaves like there is two distinct screens, one smaller the other.

What I need help now is if anyone knows how to simulate the laptop keyboard through the standard one, so I can try the 'FN+F4' and see if that is the issue.

On other thing that bothers me is that before the incident I have connected the TV to the computer and although no icons appeared on the TV, it still copied the background image on it, not this plain black screen that now shows.

u can try windows button+p to duplicate or extend display.can u attach a screen shot/pic of the normal boot?

Thanks for your answer kookie3010. I read other posts with similar problems and tried one of the suggestions there: disconnect the broken screen cable, and it solved my problem.

Now I have a laptop that works like a desktop, with an external TV and keyboard. Thanks!

I have the exact problem with a Toshiba laptop. Connecting a SVGA to an external monitor and using a wireless keyboard solved my problem with the exception like you said, but I thought I was the only.one that had the bad luck infection to have to take a laptop and convert it into a desktop LOL!!! My exact thought on the matter. Anyway, it is a good enough solution for a printer or peripheral hardware host. Welcome back to the good ole days!

I didn't hhave to disconnect the display cable, for others that run into this since you found your solution, just duplicate the display and set the external as your #1 display.
