Hey,

I’m looking for a thinkpad - X1 is too thin and pricey, can’t upgrade ram...

Would you get t480 or t480s for a little more money? And why?

Solution
HP 840 (the G5 I assume) is also nice.
The thing is however, in my experiences using and seeing countless of laptops until today.
Lenovo Thinkpad is the most durable on average so far and the international warranty is really worth the extra cash.

If I am not mistaken:
T480s should be lighter and has better display. T480s has 1440p display while T480 has only 1080p.
T480 should fit more RAM (32GB), while T480s can only go up to 24GB.
YOur decision from here :)

If you ask me, I would get the T480s :)

It seems that T480s is closer to what I'm looking for - a durable laptop with good keyboard for programming.

How about HP Elite Book 840?

I'm a big fan of thinkpads and I have no experience with elite books - only horrid experience with probooks. Does anyone have any experience with 800 series elitebooks?
